People
always ask me if I am going to this dance or that dance, and this
festival or that festival. Its nice to know that they want to know
where I am going to dance at, but sometimes I just have no idea what
dance or festival I am going to. However, you can always find me at
the Harvest Hoedown Festival in Yuba City.
The
Harvest Hoedown Festival is usually always the last weekend in
October. This year it will be held on October 24th-26th at the
Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds in Yuba City, CA. By having the festival at
the fairgrounds it can accommodate a lot of dancers for camping and
also RV parking. I bring a tent trailer and camp in that and it is a
lot of fun. Even though the festival is close to Chico, I like the
experience of camping at the festival because you can hang out with
other dancers that are camping as well.
At
the festival there are many different types of vendors. There is
usually always a clothes vendor, a badge vendor, and a food vendor.
There is also sometimes vendors that have jewelry, Tupperware, sewing
patterns, and more. There is always a silent auction that people can
bid on throughout the weekend. The winners of the silent auction is
announced on Sunday morning before the festival is over.
Lastly
at the festival they have a fashion show. This is where dancers can
show off their new outfits that they have made, or that they are
wearing to represent a clothing vendor. Last year at the fashion show
my Club and I decided to show off our Club colors. We had our banner
and walked around to show our spirit and support for the Club.
